Are B&W G3's the one for you?

Pros Fast, Reliable, Ease of use, Easy Access to Expansion bays and slots
Cons NO SCSI, No Serial, No Floppy
Recommended it? Yes
Any Mac lover can appreciate the speed that came with this line of machines from Apple. At 300Mhz to 450Mhz there are a variety to choose from when it comes to system configurations and Customizing the computer to fit your price range. The system comes with a lot of options. A 56k Modem, 10/100 Base T Built in Ethernet, and an ATI Rage 128 Graphics accelerator with 16Megs of Video Ram. You have a choice of having anywhere from 4 to 12 Gigs of storage and if you want can add an optional ZIP Drive and/or a DVD rom so that you can watch your favorite DVDs right on your computer.

Unlike the Early Beige G3's that had a SCSI port, the new Blue and white G3 does use the Standard EIDE interface for drive connections. There are plenty of companies out there, including Apple, that offer SCSI cards to insure that your previous investments in SCSI devices don't go to waste.
Although it does not offer SCSI for the SCSI Fans, the EIDE does allow for less expensive expansion options.

What I like about these machines:
Built in Modem
10/100 BaseT EtherNet Card
ATI Rage 128 Video Card (OpenGL support for Intense Graphics)
Lots of Hard Drive Space
Speedy CPU
Firewire and USB ports(replaces SCSI and serial ports)

What I don't like about this machine:
No SCSI
No Serial Ports
No Floppy
Limited number of PCI slots and RAM Slots

Personally:
If you are thinking about buying a G3 save your money and get a G4.
Though the G3 is fast, reliable, and have lots of options over previous Apple Computers, you can get a G4 that's even faster and have more options for about the same price. Plus top models of the G4 have an AGP bus that was only a dream to mac users of the past. Hopefully with the new AGP bus there will be a bigger and faster line of graphics cards for Macintosh.
