This CUBE is anything but square.

The Bottom Line:
This is a fabulous looking machine that will operate silently and quickly with plenty of options to "keep it in the game" with today's rapidly updated computers.
The original 500 Mhz model was only available from Apple's online store. Now with processor upgrades available (Powerlogix, etc.) buying a 450 Mhz model over the 500Mhz isn't a big deal. But the 500 Mhz is rare.
This is a completely silent computer. Nothing really out there like it. Although Apple has discontinued this model, there's renewed interest and desire for this unique and stylish computer. Just take a look at ebay.
Hard to imagine a powerful G4 computer inside a 8 inch cube enclosure, but it's true. And the complete insides can be removed with a simple release hatch on the bottom. The whole computer comes out of the enclosure for easy access to memory, WiFi card, hard drive, etc.
Some people say this computer isn't easily upgraded. But I would have to disagree. Aside from the video card (which is upgradeable with the right kind of card), the hard drive, memory, processor, wireless card, optical drive (slot loading only) can all be accessed relatively easily and upgraded to make this Cube competitive with todays Macs. In addition, with 2 Firewire ports, 2 USB ports, modem, and ethernet- the Power Mac G4 Cube is ready for many peripherals. I personally have a scanner, Compact Flash card reader, DSL modem, USB hub, external hard drive, external CD-burner, printer, EyeTV, and Palm cradle all connected with ZERO problems.
Cube has a air cooled system- no fans=silence! Kinda reminds me of another well made machine that I have- My air cooled VW! : )
Slot loading DVD drive is on top of the cube and vertically "sucks in" DVDs and CDs. Kinda looks like a toaster.
All cables plug into the bottom of the cube and can be neatly organized out of sight.
Whether you're a studio recording artist/musician who would greatly benefit from the silent operation or just someone who wants a unique one-of-a-kind Mac, this Cube's for you!
