Apple PowerBook 3400C (M4597LL/A) Mac Notebook

If you need a very inexpensive but functional notebook computer, the 3400c may be a good match for you. It handles many everyday tasks well, internet and e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets. I do a lot of digital editing on mine. Right now (early 2003) you can find these units used for around $200. Make sure the unit you buy comes with power supply, a battery, and the c-d rom unit, at a minimum.

This powerbook has many hidden features, like the potential to upgrade it's pcmcia capacity to cardbus. This means it can potentially accept pc card adapters to give you usb, firewire and many other peripheral options like many of the newest Apple powerbooks.

Since the price will be easy on your wallet, and your used unit may come with a few "pre-installed" scratches or dents, you are more likely to feel comfortable carrying this unit with you on your travels.

Also a great starter unit for your kids. Will play games decently. Nice sound system!
