Apple Pro Mouse: I Bought Two In Hopes They Would Breed...

byDr_Steph Mar 15, 2001

Pros Beautiful, feels great, tracks perfectly, no cleaning of cages
Cons Try as I may, I can't get them to reproduce
Recommended it? Yes

Very soon after I bought my Power Mac G3 (blue and white), I knew I would have to get another mouse. The silly little round poor-excuse-for-a-mouse had to go. I ended up getting a Contour Unimouse to replace it and was reasonably satisfied with this for about a year.

Recently, however, it... Read full review »

"Squeek Squeek," Said the Optical Mouse

byJaywa Aug 25, 2000

Pros Optical sensor rather than a track ball, beautiful looking, fits easily into one's...
Cons Looking at the optic beam hurts one's eyes :)
Recommended it? Yes

Good-bye hockey puck mouse, hello optical. After the huge uproar about Apple's older mouse, which came on all the iMacs and G3s, Apple decided to toss it out faster than a Randy Johnson fast ball. Now, standard on every Macintosh computer, comes the sweet, sweet Apple Pro Mouse. Not only did the... Read full review »

Pros Best mouse I've ever used; no track ball to get dirty; wonderfully ergonomic;...
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

I absolutely hate the mouse that came with the original iMac and Mac G3 systems. It was, in a word, something that should have never been designed. I tried to like that little round, awkward, hockey puck of a mouse, but I never could tolerate it.

I realize that Apple, as usual, was trying... Read full review »

The Pros of the Apple Pro Mouse Don't Outweigh the Cons

byquasar Jul 5, 2003

Pros clear, comfortable, light
Cons short cord, collects smudges, bright red led, mine broke within 6 months
Recommended it? No

Before I get too far into this review I should tell you that I use my mice upside down. When I first sat down at a machine with a mouse someone played a practical joke on me and turned my mouse upside down. I discovered that it was wrong rather quickly but my hands and eyes had already figured out... Read full review »

Sleek & Sophisticated

Pros Easy cleaning, highly ergonomic, right- or left-handed with ease
Cons Doesn't handle speed well, short cable
Recommended it? Yes

We just installed four new Apple G4s in my store and they all came with these new Apple Pro Mouses. If you're used to the round mouse that appeared with the iMacs, you'll be ready to kiss this mouse. And even if you're used to a traditional mouse the optical sensor will have you jumping for joy in... Read full review »

Apple Pro Mouse: Ahhhhh! The cord won't reach!

byzumiez007 Jan 9, 2001

Pros sleek.
Cons over priced, knock-off of Microsoft verson, doesn't glide well.
Recommended it? No

The Apple Pro Mouse, is semi-new type of mouse. It has no internal ball, for lint and dust to be caught on. That means that the cursor will never skip or jump. The Microsoft optical mouse is the same as the Apple Pro Mouse, except it was made first, and it has 5 buttons instead of the Apple?s one... Read full review »

A definite upgrade!

Pros Great style, optical technology, adjustable tension
Cons Only one button, no wheel, rapid movement may confuse the mouse
Recommended it? Yes

Apple fans can finally rejoice at the coming of optical mouse technology and the going of the old "hockey puck" mouse! The Apple Pro Mouse uses optical technology, which means that it uses a laser beam and a tiny digital camera to track your mouse movements, rather than the old mechanical method of... A beauty, most of the time

Pros ergonomic; attractive,
Cons flex can be a problem; grime build up
Recommended it? Yes

This was my first Mac mouse (I switched over on the Mac's 20th anniversary!) and it was all quite new to me. I was familiar with plugging it into the keyboard and this makes up for it being rather a short cable (a couple of feet) and this is fine providing you keep your mouse close to the keyboard... Yee Haw, Shiny Mouse!

Pros No Grimy Tracking Ball! Aesthetically Stunning.
Cons Expensive.
Recommended it? Yes

Like many other users of recent Apple computers, I lamented the hockey puck mouse that came standard with my system last year. But, also like other Apple users, I was somewhat used to Apple's oddness -- they're rather like Saab, which builds very good cars that always seem to have one or two... Read full review »
