Hello fellow mac addicts,

I'm mainly writing this review for those who may just be curious about the new 1ghz emac or deciding whether it might be for you . . . I also feel it my karmic duty to post my first impressions because I couldn't find a damn thing on the machine when I was... Read full review »

Why first time users should own an eMac

bypgtech Nov 21, 2004
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Big CRT display, Built-In Speakers, Lots of Ports, Inexpensive
Cons Heavy, HD/Combo drive not accessible
Recommended it? Yes

The eMac is one of the best bargain computers anyone can buy. I work on Macs and PCs for a living, and to be honest, in the beginning the eMac didn't impress me. The new iMac always got my attention with its slick design and flat LCD screen. However, I've worked on my eMac for six months now, and I... Read full review »

Best PC for the money; business or school

10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros affordable, easy to use, easy to set up, great mac applications
Cons Not enough factory memory, no expansion slots
Recommended it? Yes

I bought my eMac because I needed a new PC for school/work/play. My current clamshell iBook; G3, 333 mhZ, 6 GB, 12", simply was not cutting it anymore in the productivity department.

I did look around at Dell's, Gateway's and HP's only to find that once I added a 17" monitor, an ethernet... Read full review »

Pros Everything. Profits don't go to Bill Gates
Cons Only 1 optical drive. Not very upgradeable
Recommended it? Yes

I customized my emac before I bought it so the specs on this site might be different from what I have. I have a g4 processor with 1.25 ghz, 1 gb of ram, 160 gb ultra ata hard drive, and a radeon 9200 32 mb video card. The ram is in huge amounts and the hard drive is huge.

Software: The... Read full review »

Pros Can still handle most of iLife '08, 10.4, etc.
Cons Radeon 7500, USB1.1, Ram prices increasing.
Recommended it? Yes

I've been working with this model of eMac for almost 4 years now, and am constantly amazed at what you can (still) do with it. Along the way I've made a few upgrades which have kept it usable even with 10.4 and iLife '08.

The machine itself is a tank, with a thick polycarbonate case that... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use, fast, and beautiful!
Cons none

I was given my wonderful eMac for a birthday gift last year, and I have been delightedly using it ever since. Not once have I even had any glitches to deal with. It is without any doubt a superior machine.

It is comparable to the iMac, only faster, and slightly easier to use, with a few... Read full review »

1 GHz eMac, the best G4 mac for Leopard.

bycompgeke Mar 20, 2011

Pros Large Screen, Firewire 400, Airport Extreme compatible, runs Leopard perfectly.
Cons Bad screen angle for tall desks.

This was a Mac that I salvaged from the eWaste pile, and it isn't the only eMac I own.

I took this because I needed a mac that can natively run Leopard for Photoshop Elements 3.0 for Mac because it runs terribly on an iMac G3\400 running OS 10.2.8. I have to say that I'm very pleased with... Read full review »

Pros A great computer for the price.
Cons Not great for gamers.
Recommended it? Yes

I recently bought my second eMac, since the first one was starting to show signs of needing a new analog board (a repair I was told was a common problem with the first generation of eMacs).
OS 10.3 is much better, faster, and cooler than 10.1. The graphics are still excellent, and with the... Read full review »

Pros Affordable and Reliable. Perfect if you have multi-users.
Cons No screen savers in Login Screen.

I knew that when I buy a computer, my family will be all over it. I already had bad experience with sharing multiple users with a windows machine, all the viruses, spyware, adware that mainly targetting vunerable windows. However with OS X, I can control everything. I tried to find loop-holes in... Read full review »
