Disposable equipment and bad service at a high price.
Pros
Extremely functional, and stable software.
Cons
Not cheap, bad service, substandard durability.

No
The Bottom Line:
Chances are they will not be a lasting investment.
I was the owner of 2 of this machines. I owned the first for close to a year (late 2004), and then I purchased one for my wife (mid 2005). Overall, excellent performing machines. Stable software, no problems with virus and spy ware, and very functional. They were fairly well loaded out of the box, but the additional software was not cheap.
About 1yr and 10 mo of service on my oldest iBook, it failed. No Apple protection was purchased, for it was an Apple with superior quality and service: WRONG. The assistance of the Apple Help line this time was not impressive. They were really out to get my credit card to charge for over the phone service and could not guarantee the service provider in my location would honor the agreement. In the end, the logic board was failed and affected the hard drive and the power unit.
Then, under a month of this first failure the second iBook failed. This time the Apple service was even rude when I asked for guidance, for I was not willing to purchase their service plan. The second iBook also had a failed logic board. Service cost, over $600.
I've always been very careful with all my laptops. I travel a lot and I previously owned 3 PC's, which I had to replace only after the microprocessor, and/or the Windows software was obsolete, so my habits/use were not the problem. The person which performed the diagnostic on both mentioned me that he had been seen an ever increasing number of Apple's with various problems.
I am extremely disappointed for I expected more out of an Apple. For the higher price a better service and durability should have been expected. In the end they were only a disposable electronic equipment.
