Dear Mac.
Pros
Customization, uh...
Cons
No multitasking, crashing apps that came WITH the computer.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Avoid it like the plague, I'd rather have Windows. Seriously.
Hi.
It's me again, remember me? I'm the one who keeps beating on your side because your speed to multitask is little to none, I'm the one who spends night after countless night trying to find applications that you don't need to buy the newest 200 plus dollar OS to operate simple things.
But seriously, the computer is really nice and all. If you have used a Mac before, the illusion of it all is is that it's really easy for people say like Joe and Mary to use after plugging it in for the first time and unless you are a "complete idiot" (with quotation fingers) you wouldn't know the first thing about them.
That's nice, I used them all through out middle and high school and I still don't have the first clue. For instance, the little bouncing icon crap before an application even opens? How long does it have to bounce before it registers that you are trying to do something, anything at all? Or the countless amounts of times it's only programs that are supposedly the best for the OS (Safari) crash? In the middle of say important research? Or that blue screen of death that everyone warned me about so many times and I ignored because it couldn't be any worse than Windows Blue Screen?
it IS worse.
What I don't get is why even if the apps are compatible with older OS's they don't work? And why do I need to buy the latest super hyper Tiger OS with spinning toast maker to even use anything? Say I wanted to, I don't know "download things" but with the newest OS on the market the only thing that works for P2P or the likes is Limewire.
Yes, Limewire. I know the suffering should be enough right?
It doesn't remember my preferences half the time, the clock changes about once a day and then goes back. The dock and the whole expanding to make it bigger ordeal slows the computer down (and I have 40gbs on it) and well it's just not worth the trouble.
I've had this computer for 3 months and have had it back to a "computer dealer" about 3 times because of various problems with the OS.
My recommendation is, research before you buy any Mac. They are very nifty and the customization is pretty darn cool if you are into that kind of thing but the bottom line is, there really isn't that much difference between XP and OSX.
