Lenny brought it back to life

A dependable rock solid design, great case, and easier to work then a tower.

After the power surge it became a lost.

The Bottom Line:
I loved this model and would like to bring more of them back to life.
Having seen this old model at a recent yard sale it was hard to pass it up. Needing a computer after having watched my laptop go on the slow decline it was only a matter of time to figure out what could be done to modify and keep it running. Within the body itself was the 768 RAM, the Rage with 16 SD-RAM, and a "bountiful" hard drive of 20 gig. Let me start off by saying that this was the learning experience through which I learned how to work with Macintosh computers in general with Linux. It was not the greatest model to start out but it at least achieved five hundred frames per second when running a minimal install of Etch. X F C E was the desktop of choice and ran well for the light weight work environment of college life. A sad note however is that most of the time it was only used for typing writers and research reports. Toward that end it was the end of life model and in dire need of replacement after a power surge but it was a strong model.
Graphics 3/5
It was the novelty design which drew me toward it that and the belief after my laptop was gone and ground into the dust that it would stay stable. With Etch and later Lenny becoming the primary Operating Systems that is where I made my bones. Working day and night to alter and configure the video server. After all was said and done after six days of exhaustive work it was nice to see it finally run in five hundred frames per second. Also nice was that it played open source games well.
Speed 3/5
Brought back to life through Linux and used for the better parts of three or four college terms it performed well. Primarily my e-mail, researching, and reporting brought it into the fold. When using different word processors it performed well as a business only unit. Light games worked on it but others such as Open Arena brought the screen crawling down.
Upgrade 4/5
Upgrading was made easier through several very open measures and it helped me to understand Macintosh hard ware. As a Linux enthusiast in and outside the case was the easiest to work inside of. Only wish that it had come with the air port extreme card to be wired through broad-com supports in the repositories.
Overall 4/5
I enjoyed working on this model and getting it up and running again. From a grey question mark came a little business power house. It also held down the front as the print and file server for wireless permissions and printing access.
