this apple's a dud
Pros
great if you are familiar with mac systems
Cons
you have to pay for tech support
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend the iMac desktop. It is very flashy and colorful but it lacks depth and skill.
This computer is wonderful in some aspects and horrible in others. This computer does have an excellent screen with awesome graphics. I don't recommend if you are unfamiliar with Mac operating systems. It is far too complicated to do simple tasks, i.e. greeting cards, etc. On top of that, the free tech support is very short lived and very expensive afterwards. I would not recommend this computer to someone new to computers or Macs for that matter. I would recommend it to those who don't mind paying a lot of extra money after its purchase for warranty and tech support. It would ideally be for someone in the graphic arts realm or say a professional photographer.
It came with World Book Encyclopedia on disc. Which I might add isn't as informative as you might think. It came with the basic programs that do word processing and graphs and what not. It did not however have any games or educational software that you'd want if you had children.
I have the one with a cd/dvd burner. This works quite well. It is very efficient and fast when it comes to burning CDs. It also gives very good instructions when it comes to using the audio programs. The DVD and movie programs are less clear and harder to figure out. Seeing as how it did not come with a manual, it was all the more difficult. Yes, you can buy manuals from Apple, but after paying around $2,000 for our computer I did not feel the need to give them more money.
The computer seems faster to use than PCs at first. But after the joy over the graphics wears off you hardly even notice the half of a second you gain with this computer.
This computer is one of the easiest to upgrade, I must admit. That is one of the pluses of this model. Anyone could do it.
