The Bottom Line:
This phone is great when bought at a discounted rate and will last well into the coming years with ever increasing functionality and an active application store.
Just as it says, This is my first smart phone, my first time having a touch screen, and honestly it's pretty great. The ease of use associated with this phone is unparalleled and after doing some demos in-store, I feel most comfortable with it.
I bought this phone about four months back and have been joyed to see software updates as well as application updates almost as soon as a bug in the system is found. The screens are simple to navigate and after a little bit of practice the shortcuts make the experience even better.
I've read a little bit about iPhones and have found that there is a lot of research behind the ergonomics of the device, such as the screen is built in such a way that your thumb can touch about 80% of the usable surface without moving the phone around or having to use two hands.
Some minor problems with this phone include the material from which it is made, the backing is a plastic substance that chipped on the first accidental drop, while it's not essential to the functionality to the phone it still doesn't look pretty. Other minor problems include having to use the iTunes interface to add music, videos, and other programs to the device; but that's just a bias against Apple products.
As with smartphones, the battery life is much less than deisred, but with high use it lasts about 40 hours.
