Not Crazy About My Ipod

Pros Design, Battery Life, Durability, & Ease with loading CD's
Cons No Free Downloads, No Charger, No easy way to delete unwanted Music
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:

Don't expect any goodies when you buy the king of the MP3 players.  Expect to pay more, a lot more to truly enjoy your new MP3 player.

With growing kids you must keep up with technology.  I am behind the times when it comes to MP3 players.  So, with all the hype about Ipods and how great they are, we (my wife & I) could not pass the chance to buy one for the family to use.

We all liked the Ipod Nano and we bought one when our local Costco had them discounted.  The slim design, the looks, the headphones all A+.  I also thought the menus and selection of music was easy to use but the problems I had were with downloading of music and the packaging.

I read other reviews on Epinions and I don't get how they all say it was easy to use.  Yes, the controls are simple, finding my music and playing it is simple, the screen is pretty, and clear, but how do I use the thing?

The Ipod came with minimal instructions and a web page to download the full manual.  Why bother with the minimal instructions.  You need the full manual to use the thing to its full potential.  I guess this was to save a few trees?  So, I printed 5 copies of the full manual just to get even with Apple.

The Ipod loaded what music I had on my computer and it put several songs on there that I would never listen to in a million years.  I followed the directions on removing them from my Library but when I synched the Ipod, the songs remained on my Ipod.  I could not for the life of me figure out how to delete these songs.  Is a simple "Delete Song" function that hard to put in the Ipod?

The next thing that bothered me is that not one free download came with my purchase.  Why not?  I just spent some good money on their Ipod and they cannot throw me a bone with 5, 10, or more free downloads?  I found that very disappointing.

Burning a CD was a piece of cake.  The option of which songs I wanted to put on there was simple and I had no problem seeing and listening to my music after I synched the Ipod to my library.

Finally I was surprised there is not a charger with the purchase of the Ipod.  I now have to buy an accesory or charge the Ipod every time using my computer.  I do not like that.

I like the Ipod Nano, but the packaging to get me to love it is horrible.
