Audiovox VBP4000 - The Perfect Choice
Pros
Compact, complete packaging, ease of use, removable & multiple screens, AC/DC capability
Cons
Poor viewing of screen at an angle, wish one audio headset was included
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
The perfect way to travel - highway or in the city - with children. They will be quiet until "the movie's over!"
After purchasing a new Kia Sedona, we felt it necessary to occupy our 2 1/2 year old in the center seat. We researched multiple handheld units at various size/price levels but the wife and I both found info for this item via the web.
We wanted a good screen size but more importantly, we wanted a durable, easy-to-use system. I believe the VBP4000 met those requirements and more. Its ability to add multiple screens and two audio headsets in each screen is perfect. The screen fits perfect over a headrest right in front of the viewer while keeping the main unit in a safe location (so she can't fool with the controls). The remote control is complete and handles all functions necessary. The cords are long enough and the "bag" is of solid, sturdy construction that holds everything in place.
When you purchase this unit, it is complete -- you don't have to purchase anything else (except DVDs, of course) to get it running. Can't ask for anything better!
There are three main ways to hang the unit and all parts to do so are enclosed. They are:
1. Hang the unit between the seats -- S-hooks straps included.
2. Hang the unit over one seat -- strap woven into bag.
3. Remove the screen and hang over the headrest -- heavy-duty enclosure and wiring included (the way we use it).
Power. Comes with the DC adapter with a good amount of cord. Powers entire unit and screen -- even when screen is detached like in option 3 mode (above). Sweet! Also had an AC converter allowing you use standard 110v power. Super Sweet!
This is a super unit. What really, really sold us on this unit was the removable screen and ability to add more screens. You can have up to three screens on this unit (one attached, two separated) for this system. On each screen you can attach two headsets. The system is super solid and very well constructed.
A solid investment for families with children. Drop in some educational DVDs and you can enjoy a quiet trip (at least until the DVD is finished!).
