Unimpressive - failed after 6 months!!!!

The Bottom Line:
Avoid it - stick with a picture tube (CRT) type or pay more for a Sony with wide viewing angle.
I purchased the Audiovox VE-500 as a Christmas present for my wife to replace our aging GE under-cabinet TV in our kitchen. Mounting the TV was easy, but everything went downhill from there.
The picture is fine - IF you are exactly in front of the screen and no more than 2 feet away! The LCD screen in this model is definitely not the newer wide-view type. You can only move slightly to one side or the other without losing the picture.
You must also tilt the screen upward from the bottom to view it directly from in front. The bracket actually has a couple of catches to hold it in this position, but it looks very awkward. People wonder why the screen on your TV is tilted.
Sound is fine. You can at least hear what is going on even if you move in the room and can't see it any longer.
My main gripe is that the LCD screen failed after 6 months (it would go white after 10 - 15 minutes). I have worked in consumer electronic repairs and spent a couple of hours tracing the problem to the LCD screen. Unfortunately, the cost of the screen exceeds the price I paid for the TV, so off to the trash it went. The Audiovox warranty is 90 days, which is pretty standard.
In all my years of servicing products, Audiovox continues to underwhelm me. I'll be replacing it with a 9" RCA picture-tube-type TV.
