The Bottom Line:
Ungodly power with beautiful accuracy
My Hsu Research VTF-2 died. I did the usual internet search and settled on the Axiom EP500. It arrived well packaged and safe.
My whole downstairs is fairly open so the sub has to be powerful. Also, I'm using my sub for music and home theater. In considering a new sub accurate bass and not just a loud slam was very important.
This sub is just incredible. The clarity and accuracy are spot on. The power is overwhelming. The sub completely dissolves into the room and the bass is nonfocal. I like playing music and movies fairly loud but anything past two thirds is too much. I have had this sub for a month now. It sits in a wife approved corner under a coffee table so it can be disguised. The musicality still amazes me. Hip hop, rock, and electronic music have really come alive.
If you need tremendous slam during action sequences like the helicopter scene in the Matrix or battle scenes in LOTR then get this sub.
I wish that I could properly convey the fact that this sub is just dramatically more impressive than most of the other subs that I have auditioned. This is not coming from a guy who thinks that the Bose Lifestyle sub at the local wholesale jumbo store is a quality alternative.
Absolutely consider this for your music and/or HT setup.
