The New 900 series Top of the Line Class(excluding 945, 946), offers strong detection in today's world of traffic radar. The newer design is strong, heavier, better detection (then the older 855sti), and BRIGHTER text.
The Bel 950 comes with Visor mount, windshield mount, velcro,and cigarette spiral cord. The Visor mount can be tedious at times, because it is stiff and the spread is not wide for many visors. The windshield mount is confusing at first but when together it is better than other manufactures for design mounting. You can swivel it if you have (like the New Firebird/Camaro Windshield) a convex/concave windshield. The Cigarette plug is nice in a two piece assemble. The cigar plug can stay in and the cord can be put in a compartment with the detector.
The 950 North American Detector (990 is for International):
-All band X,K,Ka, and Laser detection.
-City "Reduction in Sensitivity"
-Radar ID Voice. SWS Voice. On or Off
-Shadow Technology II (VG-2 undetectable or a similar device)
-Flash Chip for Updated Radar (US only)
-Voltage Meter;Voltage Alert (Came in handy when Alternator Died)
What many would False Alert or Bogus Warnings on a detector, all detectors face (unless broken.) A False Alert is when you pick-up a Frequency not intended to pick-up, like Cellular Towers, detectors, or other Harmonic Freqs. If you pick-up a Grocery store, Bank, etc. you are picking up that same frequency that a radar gun puts out, meaning this is not A false signal. A wider pick-up field your detector picks-up the more sensitive the detector is. This is good for Photo-Radar (in AZ and CA) to give you time to slow down. A narrow field of detection is a poor detector. This is were the user has to know what to look for and what the detector is telling them.
The detection range of the 950 is one of the better in its class for price. But when compared to the Valentine a $400 price tag, the Valentine is Still the best.
Detection will very; best at the time; But there is more potential:
X band- 1.15 miles ample warning
K band- 1.45 miles more than ample
Ka band-1.35 miles more than ample
Laser- Good luck if detected you ticketed
These distances are in city and urban areas
