A great detector for a moderate price

Pros Good mid priced detector, LOUD
Cons Adjustment of mounting bracket is not so easy from car to car
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would actually recommend this detector over the Escort for value per your dollar
I asked for this radar detector for Christmas to replace my 10 year old Escort 5000. I was going to replace my Escort with another Escort but I just couldnt see spending that kind of money.

So I did as I always do when deciding which item to purchase when it is a little pricy, I came to epinions to make sure that I got the most value for my money. For this let me thank soupcraz for his review of the Beltronics 930. After reading his review, I had decided on that model so I wrote it on my Christmas list and sent the wife shopping, but alas, she couldnt find the 930 only the 935 so she went with that.

I can compare this model to my previous Escort 5000 that was 10 years old when it died and thats what I intend to do.

1. Cost - Escort 10 years ago $300.00, Beltronics this year $120.00

2. Detection - Actually about the same last night I got a k band warning from a police car on a flat, straight stretch of highway under good weather conditions from 1.8 miles away.

3. False alarms - The Beltronics does seem to give more false alarms then the Escort, and they do not kick out as a false alarm as they did with the Escort.

4. Loudness - The Beltronis is much louder than the Escort was, a handy thing in a Jeep Wrangler. You can actually hear it over the radio and the road noise.

5. Window mounting - While the Escort had a stamped metal piece that could easily be bent and adjusted to numerous rental cars (but it eventually fatigued and broke). The Beltronics has a bracket that is also adjustable but requires a screw driver to adjust, while more combersome and not as easily adjustable, there is nothing to fatigue and break.

6. Alarms - Both have clear distenction between the different bands of radar, making different chirps, the Escort would show you on a screen like a calculator while the Beltronics shows you in an LED and a voice announces the type

7. All in all, this detector is a good performer about equal to the Escort if you compare the pluses and the minuses
