Interim Review
Pros
Sensitivity, moderate price, unflashy and discreet, good display (brighter than older BEL's).
Cons
Limitations to be explored later. Still needs to be protected from thieves and overheating.

Yes
This midlevel BEL detector was added in spring 2009 as an around-town substitute for my Valentine One, which is a thief magnet.
So far it appears to detect X and K bands about as well as an original Escort Passport (2500), which means that the loss of sensitivity displayed by many compact tri-banders in the late 90's has been overcome with this model. Longtime RD users will recall that the original Passport was just slightly less sensitive on X and K bands to the old benchmark Escort.
There appears to be some band confusion, however, and some "Shack attack" signals are detected strongly by one detector but not the other (which is the whole reason for running two detectors of different design).
The BEL does seem to generate a local-oscillator signal that is detected by the Passport a couple of feet away. The Passport, however, does not bother the BEL.
