Benq PB8220 home theater installation (very pleased)
Pros
Picture quality, ease of use, adjusts to many viewing situations, dealing with costcentral.com
Cons
Fan noise on any projector is noticable (but not overbearing). Benq 8220 better than most.

The Bottom Line:
Stop shopping, Buy it. Great picture easy to use. Join the growing trend of ditching a time sucking TV.
We purchased the Benq PB8220 for home theater. We chose to do away with a TV in our home one year ago and we enjoy the extra time this life style affords. But, we wanted something to allow us to watch movies occasionally (selection at the movie theaters is often very limited). So far, we have watched three movies on the Benq PB8220 (kids movies so far)using both the component video (great) and s-video connections (very good). We use a flat white latex wall for a screen. We are using a high end Yamaha receiver and Klipsch surround speakers both from our local Best Buy (check on line first I paid a couple hundred to much for these). The projector unit was purchased from Costcentral.com. I could have purchased it on-line with Costcentral.com but I chose to make a phone call instead. I found Costcentral.com to be very professional in the since that if you know what you want they can get it to you at a low cost and reliably. They also know the equipment performance and answer questions in a matter-of-fact way instead of "what else can I sell you" sort of way. Watch their pricing though, for some reason the price is high when they are out-of-stock but much lower when they list it as in-stock (strange). Price has dropped from $1635 to $1618 in one week since I purchased. I have no experience with home theater but I think the picture quality is as good or better than any I have seen in the large showrooms of DLP, LCD and plasma TV's (and I spent at least 16 hours in stores "window" shopping). Viewing in bright daylight is a waste of good daylight expect to lose some picture quality to wash out of light. But, with a curtain closed, viewing is greatly improved to more than satifactory. I am curious if a good viewing screen would improve viewing, especially daytime viewing. I am not lazy but I am not looking forward to hiding all the cables and doing the mounting required for any home theater system.
