Great image, HORRIBLE reliability

Pros Image quality was FANTASTIC and it was absolutely the best price for the quality.
Cons Four projectors died on me (one was DOA out of the box), TOTALLY UNRELIABLE.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Although BenQ customer service is very friendly and responsive, I'd rather spend more money on a projector that doesn't break.
If I had problems with just ONE of these projectors, I might not have given it such a bad review. But I went through FOUR projectors and TWO bulbs in the span of 7 months.

The first projector stopped working after about 60 hours of use (just a couple of weeks). Because it was in warranty, BenQ did a "hot swap" with me where they shipped me a new one right away along with a return shipping label for the broken one.

The second projector arrived and was dead on arrival. As soon as I powered it up, it flashed an error message on the screen that said, "This unit has experienced an internal electrical fault and must be repaired at your nearest BenQ service center" and shut itself down. BenQ did another "hot swap" and sent me another new projector.

The third projector stopped working after about 6 weeks. This time BenQ said it was the bulb, so they did a "hot swap" and shipped me a new bulb. With the new bulb in, it worked for another 2 weeks and died again.

At that point, I asked BenQ for a refund. It had been several months at that point and I no longer had the original projector I had purchased, so the merchant I had purchased it from would not accept a return (not that I blame the merchant - it's not their fault).

BenQ refused to give me a refund, but did another "hot swap" for another new projector and had their technical people contact me to evaluate how I was using the projectors and do a failure analysis to see if there was a common factor in my home theater that was causing all these projectors to fail. We could not determine any reason why they were failing.

When the last projector failed, I shipped it back to BenQ and demanded my money back. They again refused, so I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and then they agreed to refund my purchase price for the projector.
