One Little, Two Little, Three Little Flat Panels...

Pros Extremely nice high frequency reproduction.
Cons Low power.
Recommended it? Yes
Ok, so the monitor isn't such a "little" flat panel, but the two Benwin flat speakers on either side complement it well.

I'm not sure why this category is labeled "BW200" when the product pictured is obviously the BW2000, but I'm quite certain that mine are the BW2000 speakers.

They arrived today, and took me about two minutes to plug in and set up.

A single stereo cable runs from your computer's speaker output jack into the subwoofer, which is a rounded box somewhat larger around than a two-liter soda bottle, but shorter. Another cable runs from your subwoofer to the speakers. Yet another cable runs from the subwoofer to your power outlet, where you'll need room to plug in a rather *large* "wall wart."

Controls are simple. You have the on/off power switch, a volume control, a "tone" control, and a "3D" on/off switch that supposedly controls "simulated surround sound".

Output is 6 watts for the subwoofer, and three watts per channel for the flats - not exactly what you're looking for in a full-sized stereo system, but more than adequate for my space and needs on this system.

Because the flat panels use an "exciter" instead of a cone to reproduce sound, they may sound just a hair "tinny" to the audiophiles - I'm almost totally deaf to low frequency noise, so I enjoy the increased high-frequency response from these speakers. And they don't take up much space on my desktop, compared to my old Labtec amplifieds.

The subwoofer is sitting in a corner under my desk. While I can't *hear* bass, I can *feel* it. It doesn't do too badly for a small subwoofer. For me to *really* feel bass, a subwoofer has to have a fairly massive capacity for moving air - otherwise, it's a no-go.

I can't tell you what I paid for these speakers, but I'd say that the Benwin BW2000 set is one of the best buys in speakers on the market right now. And since Outpost.com is running a special at $29.95 for the set (retail listing for these is usually in the $70-$90 range!), with free overnight shipping, I don't think you'll find a better deal.
