Two words; budget speakers

byrongor Nov 30, 2003
Pros - Very inexpensive - Handy controls - Easy access headphone jack - Easy set up
Cons - Practically no bass - Unable to handle loud or high quality sounds
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Better then basic and almost as cheap, but not for the demanding.
I got these speakers in a package deal with my newest computer almost a year ago. I had a choice between a few different speakers, but since I couldn't try before I bought, I just looked for the most inexpensive set of speakers with a headphone jack and a subwoofer. And so I got these (only $20).

Well, I got what I payed for. Frankly, these speakers should be sold as a two piece set. The subwoofer almost literally does nothing. It not that I'm a bass freak or anything, but the fact is that even with bass enhancing software on my computer I can barely get a *thump* out of the things. This can especially be a problem in some computer games and with some of the types of music I like listening to.

Apart from the obvious glaring problem of the bass, these speakers are actually pretty good for the price. Like most basic computer speakers, they don't handle "loud" very well at all, even mid and treble. But I think that the sort of people who can overlook the bass problem with these speakers aren't likely going to be using them to blast music or other audio through a room.
