Great Sound that Fills the Room
Pros
Good solid sound. Lots of controls. Great price.
Cons
One of the subs required a repair, but BIC has EXCELLENT service.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I recommend them. Even though you MIGHT have to go through a repair process with older models, BIC is responsive, and the price and sound quality are worth it.
I purchased 2 of these subs for my home theater 4 months ago. They offer impressive sound. I also own 3 of their center channel speakers (DV62CLR-S) and 4 of the bookshelf (DV62si). I am very impressed with the sound they are capable of reproducing even with an inexpensive receiver (Pioneer VSX-406) several years old.
The amplifier panel allows for and RCA type "sub - in" connection, or attachment and pass through of regular speaker wires if you do not want or need to use the amplifier.
There are selections for off/on/auto, the latter of which automatically detects signals and turns on the unit. There are also controls for:
Phase: select 0 or 180 degrees
Volume: 0-10
Crossover Freq.: 40 to 180
Receiver type: Digital 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 or Prologic
The unit is fused and has a fuse holder. It is rated at 250 watts RMS (600 max).
On one of the subs, the amplifier malfunctioned. No sound, no lights, etc. The fuse was blown. Even after replacing it, nothing. At BIC's instructions, I removed the amplifier panel (it resembled a small computer motherboard with daughterboards) and sent it in. About 15 days later, I received it back, reinstalled it, and it works fine. The BIC technician indicated that some of the components had some weaknesses (obviously) but the replacement-repair should make it durable.
The other sub, with the serial number just a few digits away may eventually go out, but at least I know BIC has good service, acknowledges responsibility and quickly corrects deficiencies.
Even with this minor hassle, I would buy them again in a heartbeat.
