The Bottom Line:
I would get this again if only for the email when we are traveling.....though there must be a cheaper way.
I got this for my husband a few years ago for Christmas. Although it is almost time to update to a newer model in order t stay current, we have really enjoyed it while vacationing.
We like to travel and be on the water. When vacationing all we have to do is take it with us to monitor home email. We don't have to take a full laptop that way or buy an internet plan on a cruise ship. While the keyboard is small for an average guy's hand, if we find something is really important and needs a reply, we can call them.
In addition, it is helpful at home when my husband is on the computer and has checked email and I might be in another room and he forgot to tell me. (We use the same email account) Now I can just see the email for my self on the blackberry and see if there is anything urgent. I can also take it to work if I am awaiting ebay emails or something.
When getting ready to leave the house, such as to go to church and there is little time to check email- it is handy as it is set to vibrate when the mail comes in.
We often take it in the car when traveling long distance to meetings as sometimes others who head up the meeting might have arrived a day earlier and sent an email to all regarding a time/room change etc. as we are making the 3-4 hr trip.
We set ours to fall asleep at 10pm and wake at 7am. Quietly wakes you on the weekends and would suit as a back up alarm when traveling.
We we cruise in and out of ports you sometime wonder if you are within range of a cell tower and this little guy searches all of the time so no need to flip open a phone to check. I hear the vibration and yell "We have service!"
I carry this as well as a regular cell. While I could use this as a phone with a blue tooth headset....it is not designed right to be a phone.
We are now in search of one that does it all, including palm type ability.
