Disappointment in Nevada
Pros
CD Player
Cons
Poor reception and controlls
Recommended it?

I have a Porsche 944 in which the original Blaupunkt died recently. Since I enjoyed the original Blaupunkt I thought I would get another one.
Well, was I disappointed. The new Nevada does have a nice CD player which works well with good sound quality and basic features, but the radio is not good - mainly reception is poor. This car has an in-windshield antenna which is marginal but the former Blaupunkt which I had for 11 years had at least decent reception. With the new Nevada, reception is really bad for any but the closest stations. Most of the time I am driving in rural areas and can only receive one or two stations and I live near Philadelphia!
Also I don't like the volume knob, a flat ring which is slow to give a significant change in volume. It's hard to find and takes a lot of turns to change volume. Also, I was surprised that the unit never turns off while the car is running! There is only a mute button. I suppose this is OK for most of the time but there are times when I don't want the radio on at all - lights out!
Also, most controls are electronic where you have to go through many menus, which makes adjustment while driving either impossible or very dangerous. The former unit I thought was a good compromise with small but usable volume, tone and balance knobs, which recessed in the face when no in use.
So, overall I am very unhappy with this unit. I should have sent it back but am just too busy to fool with it.
The one good part of this purchase was the excellent service I had with Crutchfield where I bought it (although I suppose even here I wish they had told me more about it but I didn't ask the right questions.).
