After buying my 89' bronco last year I found that the factory system just wasn't what I wanted at all. It was a cassette deck am/fm 25 watt unit. What I really wanted was a system with a cd player, clarity, deep, rich bass, and more power. I had shopped around at Best Buy and Circuit City In Dallas, Texas, but after making a move to Iowa, there weren't stores like this around...or much of anything. I logged on to crutchfield (www.crutchfield.com) and it told me what would fit in my bronco and told me how difficult the installation would be. The retail on the Alaska was $370, and I got it for $199.99. It was mailed to me within 2 days. It installed easily. When I started it up, I was amazed at all the signals I picked up....I live in Mason City, Iowa, and I was able to pick up an old station from Texas. Compare this to the volvo I own which has an Alpine system and gets a mere 10 radio stations. I get around 35 radio stations! It is great cd player, easy to learn controls, and has awesome all digital reciever/sharx technology built in to a great price from Blaupunkt...a name known for several decades. If I did it all over again I would have also purchased a 150 watt amp because 40 watts isn't enough for me...but thats not a shot at the system. Other systems in this price range have even less power. It won a '99 best of show award also. Bottom line, if you are looking for a system with power, features, and backed by a quality name...Blaukpunt Alaska is your unit!
