look at the future
Pros
very good fm reception and sound wired remote proper knob (first out in a while)
Cons
often washed out display unintuitive rocker switches
Recommended it?
Yes
When I got the Alaska as a Christmas present, I was intrigued by the "digiceiver" moniker. Digital was all the rage, and the possibility of getting digital sound over the airwaves was a little ray of hope. Now with XM and Sirius, anyone can do this for about $50.
I have to admit, it was a great first attempt. Now it's second nature to get digital airplay. The features were great, including a sophisticated frequency cutoff system and a wired remote, meaning it always worked (no dead angles). My main gripes were a little washing out of display in moderately bright light and not a terribly intuitive up/down left/right rockers for scrolling. It was the first head unit in a while, though, to have a proper knob for volume. All in all, a solid performer.
I still use it today.
