The Bottom Line:
Sure, you can find better cd players but not at this price. With all the great features and the cool look, its a must buy.
I am still in the process of building my new car system. I have had this Blaupunkt Alaska for about 3 months and I love it! The reception is great and you have so many options to make it sound just the way you want it. It has a built in equalizer so you can set the low and high frequncies. You can also choose how you want your reception to be. You can choose if you want strong close stations or weak distant stations. The bass is great but that depends alot on your speakers as well. I also like the option where you can choose stations based on their genre like rock, country, news, etc. So basically you can just scan that typoe of music station. It really saves alot of time. The cd player so far is flawless. I havent had any problems with skipping and my music sounds great. There are really only 2 complaints about this cd player. One is the led display. It looks fantastic at night time but in the day its hard to see. One sunny day I couldnt see the display at all. The quick fix is to just put your hand over the display to see it, but that does get annoying. The other issue is only a matter of personal taste. Its the way the buttons are designed. The tuner to change the stations is a flat circle that you rotate using only your finger. Its a cool idea but it takes getting used to. With a traditional tuner you can grip the tuner but that also leaves room for broen parts! I really do like the way the tuner is, I just have to get used to it. Well, I must say that all in all this is a great cd player and you cant beat the price. When it first came out it was over $300 now you can grab it for under $200. You can also hook up a cd changer in the future if you want. So get up off the computer and go buy this player, your ears will thank you!
