Great little player-very flexible! Sounds great
Pros
Price! Sound quality! Flexible setup choices. Several add on options available for external devices/remote
Cons
Needs optional cable for external devices; needs better remote; installation notes are poorly done
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Unless there is a feature you need and not supplied, this unit sure meets most needs and does so quite well. Buy it on sale!
Got this at Fry's for $68 on sale. I had my doubts, but after installing it in about an hour, I was pretty amazed at how great it sounded, even compared to my old Sony ES device.
It has a lot of features, which will take a bit getting used to- keep the manual handy to remind you how to set all the features. On one occasion, a CD refused to eject until I turned unit off and back on. Displays mp3 data just fine and displays CD info if included on CD. It was great to chose the color display that suited my eyes best ( red for night driving and dark adaption)
To hook up an i-pod or other external player, you need to purchase optional cables.
The included remote is very small and requires you to look at it to use effectively. I prefer a remote that you can navigate by just touch, like the wired remote Sony provided on my old ES unit. I never had to take my eyes off the road! There is an optional steering wheel mounted remote which might be better.
It does come with a multiple preamp out cable to allow flexibility in your amplifier choices.
It also has a variable sub-woofer output and a changer control capability- with optional cable.
Pretty hard to match this at this price!
