Blaupunkt Miami CD127 headunit ... GOOD!
Pros
Headunit good for radio, CD's and Ipod/other MP3 device.
Cons
Six year old headunit may be difficult to find nowadays.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
A definate buy if you can find one nowadays. Probably going to be best for those who are restoring a late 90's VW or Audi.
Purchased this headunit back in 1999 for our then '87 VW Vanagon. It replaced the tape deck headunit that was in there. Radio reception was clear and no problems playing CD's. It also fit the looks of the Vanagon dash with the green display and buttons. Before selling the Vanagon (2004), I pulled the headunit and stored in the garage.
Forward to earlier this year (2006)...
I had the idea to swap out the stock headunit in our '94 Golf with the Blaupunkt Miami CD127, since I was trying to figure out how to play music from my new Video Ipod. Luckily, there's an aux (3.5minipin) connection on the back of the Miami CD127. I purchased a male to male 3.5 minipin cable from Radio Shack and I was able to connect my Ipod and play the music from it through the headunit. The headunit doesn't control the Ipod, rather I use the Ipod to select songs or playlists. Oh, by the way, radio reception is still clear and I can still play CD's. It too matches the dash of the Golf with the green display and buttons. Not too shabby.
So if you're looking for an inexpensive way of playing music from your Ipod, try and find a Blaupunkt Miami CD127 headunit. I've seen them on EBay for pretty cheap. Good luck.
