General info- Bose 101 speakers

The bose 101 speaker is a small 1 way bookshelf speaker that is designed for medium size rooms. The specs are that it is an 80 watt speaker at 8 ohms, and has a 4.5" woofer. There is a port at the front of the unit that goes the whole length of the box. The bose 141 is a very nice mid range speaker for a low to mid level price. I currently use them at the front of my living room on each side of an infinity center channel. The speakers are 11 years old and sound just like new. Bose has always been a very sturdy and solid sounding speaker. I also have a set of 301s that work very well also. The surround of the 141 is a black medium density rubber that allows the speaker to reverberate freely. Previous models of bose speakers were made with a foam surround that allowed for free movement as well, but deteriorated over time and would need to be replaced. All the speakers I have purchased have had the rubber surround because where I live there is a lot of moisture, and rubber is a longer lasting material. The cone of the speaker is also rubber coated which helps its durability. The cabinet is a solid mdf material that is coated in a plastic durable material. I have pushed the speakers to loud volumes with an 85 watt amp, and have never heard significant distortion.
