The Bose 141 speakers are a great budget speaker for use as rear speakers in a home theater system. I purchased a pair at a Bose Factory Outlet store for $50 and have been using them for the rear speakers in my home theater sound system. The results are very good.

OK, let's be honest here! If you have the bucks, you want to buy high quality speakers for front, center, and rear speakers when you are creating a home theater system. But, if you are on a tight budget, the Bose 141's are a good choice for the rear speakers. In my system, they are paired with Bose 301's for the front stereo speakers with an Advent center channel speaker (budget model). In this setup, the Bose 141's do what they are suppose to do - produce decent rear channel sound. If I were to improve my current set-up, I would want to replace the center channel Advent with the new Bose VCS 10 center channel speaker, and add a powered sub woofer. I mention this only because of the importance of these items in relation to the rear speakers. So, if money were no object, I would use a better speaker for the rear speakers......but the Bose 141 speakers are doing fine for now.

The Bose 141 speakers would also be suitable for use as primary speakers with a very inexpensive stereo system - perhaps as replacement speakers for a compact system or mini system that is used for background music in an office or workshop. Given their price, they are worth consideration if you need decent but very inexpensive speakers.
