Bose speakers for under $100?! UPDATE -- 03/16/01

bybasilisk4 Aug 15, 2000
126 Helpfuls 127 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent sound quality, Bose brand name, low price
Cons None
Recommended it? Yes

You might be wondering why anything manufactured by Bose, the well-known manufacturer of extremely high-quality (and expensive) stereo equipment would cost so little. Well, basically, Bose wanted to come up with a speaker that would be affordable for those people who don't care to spend an entire... Read full review »

Bose's Little Classic Still Rocks!...But Its Extremes Roll.

bysam-pro Apr 6, 2005

Pros Small and powerful! Rich sound! Can take a full 80 watts!
Cons Lacking the extreme ends of the audio spectrum.
Recommended it? Yes

This tiny little classic by Bose has been auditioned by yours truly on several occasions over the recent years. Somehow...I just never got around to reporting on the little guy! Well...as I've always said...better late than never. Let me now go to my notes that I jotted down several times!...

Bose's Best Bargain

Pros Price, Sound Quality, Size
Cons Lack of Deep Bass
Recommended it? Yes

So, you'd like something for nothing. You're in the right place! I'm a vintage audio collector. I love classic Marantz equipment. You know, the ones with the silver face and the Gyro-Touch Tuning. Well at my office, I had a mint condition Marantz 2238B Receiver from the late 70's that I wanted to... Read full review »

Great Budget Buy!

Pros fairly good sound for the price
Cons limited frequency response
Recommended it? Yes

The Bose 141 speakers are a great budget speaker for use as rear speakers in a home theater system. I purchased a pair at a Bose Factory Outlet store for $50 and have been using them for the rear speakers in my home theater sound system. The results are very good.

OK, let's be honest here!... Read full review »

Bottom line: I listen to music a LOT more

byjerry5076 Dec 21, 2011
10 Helpfuls 11 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Rich mids & highs, intangible sweetness to overall sound
Cons Lack of deep bass, require EQ to use w/o subwoofer
Recommended it? Yes

I do my listening at home via our (small) living room home theater type rig and a while back I realized how unsatisfying my Infinity 5-way system was to me - specifically the two front speakers for regular stereo. I upgraded my receiver to a decent Sony unit and replaced the Infinity spkrs with a... Read full review »

Great add on to stereo or tv's

byskyrydr Aug 6, 2000

Pros A whole range of dimensional sound is added by these
Cons Not cheap
Recommended it? Yes

I have an open contemporary home, so lots of sound gets lost in the large ceiling areas. Bringing the sound more directly to the user was enormously aided by adding Bose speakers to my tv. Suddenly tv news and all other programming sounded more like surround sound than Tom Brokaw.
I liked... Read full review »

General info- Bose 101 speakers

The bose 101 speaker is a small 1 way bookshelf speaker that is designed for medium size rooms. The specs are that it is an 80 watt speaker at 8 ohms, and has a 4.5" woofer. There is a port at the front of the unit that goes the whole length of the box. The... Read full review »

plain speaker

bystarknight3 Jan 30, 2001
5 Helpfuls 6 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros small size
Cons lack of wide frequency response, single cone "star" design fails to perform.
Recommended it? No

The bose model 141 is a simple simple speaker. Lacking any quality the bose name carries with it, it would struggle as a rear speaker. The bass is flat and the highs arent high at all. The only good thing about the speaker is the ability to stand it either on its side or upright. It is a waste of... Read full review »

BOSE makes a new footstool...

byboonkauc Feb 13, 2001
8 Helpfuls 9 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Cheap
Cons Sound bad, bad construction, not durable, outdoor use impractical.
Recommended it? No

First of all, I cannot believe that I am the first person to not like these speakers. Granted, they are inexpensive, which is good for those people who do not care much for sound. But for those people who have been suckered in by the advertising genius that is BOSE, you are in for a rather... Read full review »

Bose 141 Speaker

bysamitray Dec 6, 2003
4 Helpfuls 5 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Frequency response given the price tag and the built
Cons Nothing
Recommended it? Yes

I connected my Bose 141 to a 3W PC speaker amplifier for testing. The Bose 141 supports 80W per channel. But the audio quality that was delivered was amazing. I do not expected 141 to deliver 'boom-boom' 30Hz sound - but frequency response for 100Hz - 20KHz was amazing. I have not yet tried... Read full review »
