It's Bose so there are not that many bad things I can say but...
Pros
Sound quality, surround, bass is unsurpassed by any standard sub.

NOT DYNAMIC. Have to use with a Bose receiver. Price.

The Bottom Line:
I recommend this system to anyone that is not into electronics and has the money to spend.
First of all you cannot use the lifestyle 12 without the DVD module. This means that if the Bose DVD or CD player, depending on what series you purchased breaks, you are stuck with a $900 system you cannot use without buying a new module. This is a serious design flaw. I paid over 900 dollars for my system and although the surround is great, the sub is real nice, the satellites are beautiful, I still cannot expand my system without using the Bose receiver. This bothers me a little bit. I bought a Sony receiver and was planning on ditching the Bose module but nope, the sub woofer can only be used with a Bose receiver.
The 16pin sub connector was a horrible choice to power the sub woofer. Where I assume that most people would be happy using the Bose receiver, I am not. This is for two reasons. I do not like radio signal technology. This is not the 40's, it is the 21st century. Second, it is VERY limited in what it can do. For the price paid I expected top of the line and ended up in the middle of the road with a sub par system.
That said, the 5 satellites alone make this worth it to me. Eventually I will buy a new sub woofer and run everything through my Sony receiver eliminating the Bose sub woofer and receiver all together.
For now, the sound is beautiful, crystal clear surround. Music sounds great, DVDs are great. I could not be happier with the clarity of sound. Just wish it was a little more dynamic that's all.
