The Bose Wave Radio CD - Way Too Expensive
Pros
convenient, remote, decent sound
Cons
outrageous price
Recommended it?
No
I was recently given this unit as a birthday gift. I was very excited to receive it initially, as Bose is known for extraordinary speakers and quality sound. After using it for awhile I was somewhat impressed, as I found the sound to be good and the unit easy to operate. This excitement soon faded though when I saw this CD player and alarm clock for sale in a local store. I was amazed that the price tag was a ludicrous four hundred dollars and this made me feel bad for the relative that spent so much money on me. Needless to say, I was very thankful; however, this unit certainly is not worthy of the money.
The Good:
The quality aspects of this clock radio and CD player are very noticeable indeed and first time users will be impressed. First of all, the buttons are huge and this makes it easy for those who are just waking up to be able to have easy control without accidentally hitting the wrong button initially. Secondly, the alarm clock comes with all necessary functions such as snooze and alarm volume. Furthermore, a handy remote comes along with the unit for those users who are too lazy to physically get up and turn the alarm off manually. The remote also controls the stereo and is very easy to use because of a very explanatory users manual. The overall sound quality for the unit is also pretty good, not necessarilly as nice as other Bose products I have used, but still pretty nice.
The Bad:
The main bad thing about this model is the price. It amazes me that this machine actually sells for $400. The fact is, other similar models can be purchased for two hundred dollars less. I have seen many quality products from Panasonic and Aiwa that offer similar sound at a much lower price. It is true that this model has some benefits; however, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are rich or just must have great sound out of a clock radio. For me anyway, I find myself only using this model in the early morning and using my regular stereo throughout the day. For the 10 minutes a day I use it in the wee hours of the morning, the price just isn't worth it.
