Absolutely perfect imaging, accuracy, and clarity

Pros Accuracy, handles complex material at unreal volumes, good staging, imaging, almost ruler flat response.
Cons Cost, clean high power amp is a must. Air tight seal is a MUST.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Powerful, accurate, clear, clean under ALL circumstances. They stage and image perfectly. If you've got the right amp (read big, clean) there is no limit to what these can do.
I've had the 6.5 Pro's installed for a couple of months in my 03 Tundra. Have let them break in and have almost completed the dialing in of the system. As others have stated the installation of these is VERY important for the best results. A very solid baffle, with an almost air tight seal will provide astounding results. Also clean, abundent power is needed for the best results. Because these can and will move some serious air sound deadening should be considered manditory when installing these. I added multiple layers of Dynamat Extreme to the door skins to deaden, dampen, and prevent rattling. The sound that these put out can be summed up in one word "Accurate". If you've got bad source material, bright material, etc. these comps. will let you know it. The soundstage that these create is very believable, and the imaging is almost as good as I've heard. In my install the mid and tweet had about 1 foot between them so this was not the "perfect install", but non the less they are unbelievable. These are rated at 3 ohms so my amp is giving a realistic 170 watts to them. They consume power as if it were candy. I wouldn't say that the mid bass is astounding but it is very good and once again, accurate. The one thing that constantly blows me away is that with the amount of power I'm feeding them I was unable to make them distort (even with the high pass filter off, on the amp). I was trying to set the gains and crossovers and found it amazing that they can get (out of control loud) and not protest. I don't run the system at that level, but the fact remains that this is a by-product of superior design. I ended up leaving the h.pass filter at about 50 Hz. just out of habbit.

The crossovers are fairly large but very well designed and built, you may have to display them because of this. There are 0db, -2db, and -4db settings for the tweeter, as well as a "normal" and "axis" mount jumper settings for the tweet. Normal is supposed to be used when the comps. are seperated (like mine), and the axis setting is supposed to be used when the tweet is mounted TO the midbass. Here's what I found about the tweeter and the jumper settings:

Apparently (verified by Boston tech.), when set to "normal" there is a boost or pass through in the 4-5 kHz. reigon. On some material this can be considered fatiguing (like in my install, tweeter location will play a role in this). I would not say the tweeters are bright, but the boost (for lack of better term), wasn't right for MY install. Verified with Boston that when switching from "axis" to "normal" the ONLY thing that changes was the extra pass-through of the 4-5 kHZ, and that no other changes occured. For me, setting the jumpers to "axis" proved a perfect match, AND a flat response. I have the tweeters set at 0 dB, which is flat, and not attenuated at all and they are perfect. Please note that these were results in my install with the tweeters fairly high up, approaching shoulder height and may not apply to all installs.

Long and short, I will NOT be using any other speakers in this truck. I've not found any material that they do not re-produce accurately, rock, jazz, classical, funk. Almost ruler flat response in my install. Clean, clear highs (axis mount setting), non-fatiguing. Clean midbass, even at extremely high volume, and using very complex material. If fed properly, and mounted to a deadened door, with a tight baffle, hold on, because there's not much out there that's going to remotely up-stage these comps.
