Not bad, but my next set will be the Boston Acoustic RM6's

Pros Relatively cheap, great manufacturer, easy to mount
Cons Not the highest in quality
Recommended it? No
I have been a loyal Boston Acoustic fan since I bought my first set of RC51 (see my article) front end speakers. Being completely satisfied with them, I decided to go with the CX6 speaker set for my rear speakers. I can't say that I am very impressed with the CX series.

I am a car audio nut, and I don't really like to cut any corners with my car stereo. I knew that I couldn't leave my stock speakers in the back dash, so I decided to go for the low end Boston CX6 coax speakers. They sounded great at first, but they did not stand the test of time like my other Boston speakers have.

Within a six month period, I started to hear some popping from the rear channels. I figured the speakers were just settling. Not a chance. Within six more months, my CX6's were so faded, and distorted that they took more away from my stereo than they added. I took them back to the place of purchase. They convinced me that the cheaply built tweeters had been blown by the pressure of the bass in my trunk. I have two twelve inch subwoofers in the trunk of my 96 Civic EX, and the rear speaker holes are about the only place for the pressure to escape with the back seat up. They talked me into buying another set of the same speakers, and put some bass blockers (padded pressure blockers) around the bottom of the speakers to keep the same problem from occurring again. Well it worked great for about a year and a half, but now it is slowly starting to happen again.

I am extremely hard on my car audio system, so you may not have the same problems as I did. Especially without subs. None the less, I will be replacing these with the Boston Acoustic RM6 speakers shortly. Still a coax style speaker, they are better built, and have the tweeter mounted on an island separate from the woofer. I advise getting a higher end rear speaker than these if you can afford to, but most definitely stick with the Boston Acoustic brand.
