Bunn...for a great morning!

Pros dependable, fast, makes a great cup of coffee
Cons costly
Recommended it? Yes
Nothing is quite as refreshing as the aroma of a freshly brewed cup of coffee to start my day. With my Bunn coffeemaker, I get that first cup of coffee....just the way I like it....quick and easy!

In the past, I have used various other brands of automatic coffeemakers. Among these are Mr. Coffee, Home Concepts (a generic freebie by Gevalia), Proctor-Silex and Gevalia....none compared to Bunn!

When my last Mr. Coffee quit after only a year of service, I decided to invest in a quality coffeemaker. I paid $49.95 for my first Bunn....it lasted over 9 years before the warmer finally gave out! I didn't hesitate at all to pay $99.95 for my next Bunn! That was 5 years ago and my Bunn is still going strong!

The Bunn that I purchased is the home model NHB....it has since been upgraded to the B8 Series. It is definitely the best coffeemaker that I have ever owed! Not only does it make a fast pot of coffee....it just makes coffee taste better!

A specially designed stainless steel reservoir keeps two full decanters of water at the perfect temperature (200 degrees F) for brewing coffee. This constant supply of properly heated water assures the optimal method of brewing coffee....in less than 3 minutes. This is why coffee made in a Bunn coffeemaker tastes so good!

Before a Bunn coffeemaker is used for the first time, it must be prepared for use. Follow these simple instructions and your first cup of steaming, hot coffee will be ready in about 30 minutes. First, open the lid and pour a full decanter of water into the top of the coffeemaker. Place the decanter on the warmer. Close the lid....this starts the flow of water into the tank. Wait 3 minutes while the tank partially fills. Open the lid and repeat the same process. Be sure to wait until the water flows from the funnel. Now, plug in the coffeemaker, flip the power switch to ON, and wait 15 minutes for the water in the tank to heat. You are now ready to make coffee! Sound complicated? It's not....it's actually very quick and easy! NOTE: The Bunn coffeemaker has an attached two-prong polarized cord that may be plugged into any grounded 120 volt electrical outlet.

To make a perfect pot of coffee with a Bunn coffeemaker, simply place a filter into the funnel, add your favorite brand of coffee, and slide the funnel into place. Place the desired amount of cold water into the top (you must use at least 4 cups) and place the glass decanter under the brewing spout. Flip the warmer switch to ON....and your coffee will be ready in about a minute and a half.

How does this process work? The cold water that is poured into the top of the coffeemaker remains in the reserve tank and is heated up for the "next" pot of coffee. When the cold water is poured in....the preheated water flows out....making a really quick pot of coffee! This process works well if you use your coffeemaker on a daily basis like I do....if not, the water tends to evaporate. When I go on vacation, I unplug my coffeemaker and drain the water. In this way, I am assured that the tank will not go dry....possibly causing a fire hazard or damage to my machine.

The power (vacation) switch is located on the lower right side of the coffeemaker. This switch must be left ON in order to keep the water in the reservoir at the desired temperature.

A deliming coil comes with every Bunn coffeemaker for easy clean-up. Periodically, the brewer should be cleaned to clear away any mineral deposits that may accumulate. Just unplug the brewer, twist to remove the sprayhead, and insert the deliming coil through the sprayhead opening. Remove the coil after rotating it several times. Check the sprayhead for mineral deposits, clear with a toothpick if necessary, rinse and replace the sprayhead. Plug the brewer back in and allow the water in the tank to reheat....as simple as that! This procedure takes about 2 minutes and will keep your Bunn in great working order!

The Bunn coffeemaker has the same exclusive sprayhead system of the professional models that most restaurants have used for years. This sprayhead system saturates all the coffee grounds and absolutely NO grounds end up in your cup!

But wait....there's more! I use my Bunn for lots more than just coffee. Just pour the desired amount of water through and you have "instant" hot water for tea, hot chocolate, instant soups and oatmeal.

Since the brewer funnel and glass decanter are top-rack dishwasher safe, daily clean-up is a snap! Coffee just tastes better when everything is kept clean.

My coffeemaker came with a glass decanter, a plastic measuring container for water, a deliming coil and a supply of Bunn coffee filters. I highly recommend Bunn filters....since I have been using them, I haven't had any problems with coffee grounds seeping through into the pot!

Several companion products are available for use with your Bunn coffeemaker. The "Easy Tea" pitcher makes fresh brewed ice tea a breeze! An extra decanter of coffee can be kept warm with an auxiliary warmer from Bunn. This accessory is great for use on Holidays or when you have a lot of guests. A broken glass decanter is quickly replaced at a Bunn authorized dealer or on-line at www.bunn.com.

Is there anything that I don't like about my Bunn coffeemaker? Not really! Oh...I guess that 12 cup capacity would be better than 10. Even that isn't important....because if I need more coffee....it's ready in a jiffy!

Bunn home model coffeemakers have a 3 year warranty on defects in materials and workmanship. After warranty, replacement parts are available....and in most instances, Bunn replaces/repairs at a minimal charge.

I would recommend a Bunn coffeemaker to anyone who loves a quick and delicious cup of coffee. A Bunn costs a little more....but you get lots more for your money! In my opinion....that's a bargain!
