Limit Your Vision: Bushnell 10x25 Binoculars

Pros Light and compact.
Cons Gives me double vision, difficult focus wheel.
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  This is not a well engineered unit.
My wife bought this set because she wanted a small pair of binoculars to watch Phantom of the opera (the musical, not on our neighbors tv.) She was pleased with them but never used them since. I used my Nikons until they broke, then I just stole hers. Heck she probably doesn't even remember they were hers.

Is this an electronic device?
Even though it is in the electronic category it is NOT an electronic device. There is absolutely no electronic components or batteries on this device. It is a simple binocular device that is small enough to carry in one purse or ideal for backpacking.

How it works
The two lens bodies swing to collapse the design. This allow for easier storage and a smaller profile.
The binocular unit has a manual focus. You focus it by a small wheel in the center of the body. It is not easy to use and a little temperamental.
The left eye piece is adjustable for those people that do not have perfect vision. It allows people with different prescriptions in their left and right eye to adjust it so they see equally well with both eyes while using this unit. It works well but there are no numbers or lines on it. So you do not know where the setting you need is other than through trial and error. Just a cheap design.

The look
To me it looks like it is going to fall apart. It looks cheap. This is not something you will pull out to impress your friends, unless you are a 13 year old boy. The unit is black and the eye barrels are made out of plastic.

How far can you see?
The numbers it says on the unit is "10x25" and "302FT. AT 1000 YDS". I tested this out myself and it is correct.
To summarize, you can be 3 times further away from the object to see the same thing.
My big grip with binoculars this small is that you cannot see that well in dark environments. My old Nikons had a big lens diameter and I was amazed at how much I could see in the dark.

I have glasses, can I use this?
Absolutely. They have rubber stoppers at the end of the eyepieces that are for added comfort. These can be folded back to allow glass wearers an easier time using them. This is typical on most binoculars.

Problems
The main problem with these binoculars is you get double vision if the lens barrels are not set properly. In order for me to use them I need to put the lens barrels closer together than what is needed to fit on my eyes. Then I need to hold the binoculars about 1 inch away from my eyes and then I can see properly. This does take some of the magnification away and it is a bit of a pain to use. In my opinion it makes the binoculars useless.

Dimensions and weight
Fully Expanded
Length: 4.4 inches
Width: 4 inches
Height: 1.25 inches
Compact
Length: 4.4 inches
Width: 2.5 inches
Height: 1.5 inches

Weight: 4.75 ounces

Summary:
This is a compact binocular unit. There is nothing that sets this apart from the competition. The focus is hard to use and I get double vision on the unit at times. A good pair of binoculars should help you to see, not make it harder. Go look elsewhere for your compact pair of binoculars.
