OK but...

Pros Ease to master, nice EQ mount for the price
Cons Price for what you get, not up to serious astronomical observing
Recommended it? No
I own this telescope. It's my first scope and I am somewhat turned off by the difficulty of use. When I used the supplied Barlow and erector lenses I was unable to acquire celestial or terrestrial targets. Without these supplied accessories it was a different thing. My first target, why not? was the moon. At lower magnification the image was nice and crisp with good detail. At larger magnification I was equally pleased with even more detail. I tried the telescope on a more challenging object and was surprised by being able to see Jupiter. That made me proud of myself and more so when I was able to observe a semi alignment of Jupiter two transiting moons and in the background, a little fainter but observable Saturn. Colors were not clearly present and the moons looked as tiny bright objects, nonetheless I amazed by the beauty of what I was observing. Of course it was a task and a half to keep this thing aligned and tracking was, of course manually and with lots of tripod jitters. Also, I was not able to see lots of details in Jupiter but yes, I knew I was observing Jupiter. Overall impression of this telescope...ok as a first scope and for occasional observing...I can't wait until I get my hands on an 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain or better!
