The Bottom Line:
Good to have with you for pleasure or disaster information. Light weight, easy on batteries, durable, quality, worthwhile features, best in class.
This radio is so impressive that after a few days I ordered a second one as a gift. Reception and sound quality are the best of any pocket radio I know, especially on included ear buds. It uses two AA batteries, I use Eneloop rechargeable. They last a long time in this energy sparing radio. Icluded is a proctective pouch that saves scuffing the case. There are many features to be sure. Among my favorites are tuning by preset, direct numeric entry of the frequency, scanner, and multifunction knob. There is a frequency and control lock so that it doesn't get knocked off station in a pocket. The small extending FM antenna doesn't really work in a pocket but you don't need it on AM broadcasts. This radio is really a good quality at this price like other C.Crane products I have used. Also typical of C.Crane is an understandable complete instruction manual which is a good thing given the many features is this small package. It was purchased on line from Depoteco.com, an authorized dealer, for the low price and free shipping. I have no regrets about the product, the vendor, or the price. It is much more for the money than anything I have seen. It has already provided news during wildfire blackouts this summer. A supply of rechargeable batteries and one of these is an improtant addition to an emergency and disaster kit.
