Durabrand CD-625 Personal Bulky AM/FM Tuner (with a CD player if not wanted...

Cons bulky & unportable, sound, no skip-protection, bad reader, no hold, poor headphones

The Bottom Line:  ___________________________________________________________
Before purchasing the SLCT582V, I decided to look at a cheaper brand, Durabrand, to see how different they really were. I mean, different brand electronics can't be that different, right? Wrong...

Looking at the package, I thought it was going to be a slim player. In reality, it's gigantic, and completely unportable.

The sound quality is pretty bad, and trust me, this is the worst sound quality of my 5 CD players before this, however it does not distort, the sound quality is poor. It is pretty loud, but that does not make up for the sound quality. Little bass, and fuzzy/screeching treble. The volume is not digital, but is a tuning volume.

The features are limited. There is only one bass setting, on and off. And, to be quite honest, it doesn't make much of a difference. There is a repeat option, but it does not repeat the full CD, and the 24 program settings are hard to configure. It has no skip protection so any move of the player may let it skip. The AM/FM tuner has actually pretty good reception, though it is not a digital tuner. It only has 5 presets for FM and another 5 for AM. ???...pretty bad. Switching from the tuner and the CD player is a pain, because the switch is located at the BOTTOM of the player. Yeah, they need help. You also need to go to tuner to shut the player off. So, if you're listening to a CD, you have to press stop, go to the back and switch to tuner, then push the off button twice.

The design is awful. Since I have only owned this for a few days, I did not test it's durability. I have, however found the player to skip noticeably more than other players that would play the CD without hesitation. The player looks pretty nice, better than the CD-925 which has a digital tuner instead, but I highly dislike the circle LCD. The player is mainly made of plastic, that doesn't seem to look like it would take much abuse. The buttons are plastic as well. The CD player, as many if not all Durabrand CD players, has NO hold switch. This is a big negative of the player. It takes 2 AA's and the battery compartment is not under the lid. It does not state how long the batteries last, but I'm guessing around 5 hours.

The headphones are up for the cheapest junk on the markets today! They are awful, have low sound quality, and they do not feel right. Definite replacement needed.

If you're mainly going to use the radio, this will do. Otherwise, avoid this Durabrand.

Oh, another thing, Lenoxx Sound and Durabrand are the same company.
