The Aiwa CSD-MD50 portable CD player is great. It is not like a discman, but it is portable. It provides quality that is equal to that of CD players that you may have in your house, but is able to run on batteries, so you can take it with you wherever you go.
This should not actually be called a "CD player," because it is not just a CD player. It actually has many features. It has a 1-CD player, an AM/FM tuner, and a cassette player. It has 4 speakers, which gives it surround sound capabilities.
The CD player portion of this system has many options. There are various playback modes, such as programmed tracks, repeat mode, and more.
The radio on the system is also nice. It has a digital synthesized tuner, which makes it east to find the station that you want. The only drawback is that you cannot preset channels.
The cassette player in this system is not much to talk about, but then again, there isn't anything impressive about any cassete player. The cassette player does have a record feature.
This player has T-Bass, which gives superior bass. The audio is also enhanced by the Q-sound feature. Furthermore, there is a 3-mode equalizer. You can choose from rock, pop, or jazz settings. The volume goes up pretty high, and this system will get very loud.
As for power, you can choose to use batteries or not. It does come with a 1 bit D/A converter, so you can plug it in at home. Or, you can use 8 size "C" batteries. The battery power lasts for a few hours, depending on the volume, and the features that you use. The maximum life is about 10 hours.
There is also a headphone jack just incase you want to use headphones, and an antenna for better radio reception.
I have had this for about 3 months and I use it a lot. It is great for when you go out somewhere, and want music for a group of people. It is better than a discman for this reason. Overall, this is a great system.
