Good sound & lousy FM reception
Pros
Decent sound
Cons
Awful FM radio reception
Recommended it?
No
It's been two weeks since my 88CD arrived. And it's been two weeks of misery trying to get it to lock onto and hold onto any of the local FM radio stations. It's not that I live far, far away from some little burg with underpowered radio stations. I live less than 20 miles from downtown Detroit, Michigan, where there are oodles of high-powered FM stations, all of which the other radios in my house can pick up just fine. The 88CD, however, can't. Even adding an external FM antenna (recommended to me by Cambridge Soundworks, admitting that they'd received several complaints about the product's FM reception), did little to improve the situation
Unfortunately, I tossed the radio's box away and, so, returning the radio would cost me a $15 restocking fee -- something I just thinks is dead wrong and which I won't pay. So, I'm stuck with a pretty lousy, but quite expensive radio. Hopefully others won't make the same mistake I made and will take their business elsewhere.
