For this price- Can you go wrong?

Pros Small, VERY inexpensive, Impressive photo quality
Cons Single color tank, kind of cheap build, a little slow
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For the price, this is an excellent printer
I work on a ship, and I needed an inexpensive printer to keep on board for occasional light use. When I am out here, I don't have access to the 'pro' grade equipment that I do ashore, but there are times when I want or need to print a photo, and I need it to be as high quality as it can be.

The low cost, and the canon name, where why I decided to give this printer a shot. It had the resolution I needed, and printed up to 8 1/2 x 11's borderless. The best part was that is was less than $50.00. The small 'footprint' of it was also attractive to me, since my space is limited.

So- What can you expect from a $50.00 printer? You might be surprised- I was!

The prints are nearly as good as the ones that I order from a pro lab, as long as I use good paper. Speed is pretty good, though not outstanding. Really, now, what do you expect for $50?

It has a single color cartridge, rather than a separate tank for each color. This is not as efficient in the long run, as you have to replace ALL the ink when one color runs low. A cartridge for this printer runs about $20.00, which is about normal. After 3 months of light use, I am still on my first 'starter' cartridge.

The black ink cartridge is separate, helpful if you print a lot of b&w documents. I only use this to print photos- So I honestly can't comment on how well it does with B&W- I've never used my black cartridge!

It is USB, and pretty much plug and play. Install software, plug it in, and start printing. Couldn't be easier.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that the output lacks any kind of tray, so you have to kind of keep an eye on it as it prints to make sure your photos don't end up getting tossed on the ground!

Bottom line- If you need an inexpensive printer for occasional use, this fits the bill. If you plan to print LOTS of photos and documents, Look elsewhere.
