A perfect mid level SLR !!
This is an excellent camera. If this your first time buying an SLR, go for this camera. It will help you grow into an advanced amateur. Good points of this camera -
1. Default metering type (35 zone evaluative) is very accurate for perfectly exposed pictures. Additional metering types...

Elan 7E You can't go wrong for $600
You may have read my other review of the Nikon Coolpix 995 digicam, which was less than stellar. I moved on to an Elan 7E and I couldn't be happier. This camera is called a mid-range camera, but has features of higher end cameras, such as eyepiece diopter adjustment, mirror lockup, mid-roll rewind... Read full review »
1 year of experience with the Elan 7e
I bought this camera under discount at Circuit City, where I used to work, new for $300 bundled with the USM 28-90mm lens. This lens blows and I whole-heartedly recommend you avoid this lens like the plague or an ex lover.
The auto focus for this body when using any other lens than the...

Light and rugged
This is a great camera, but is one of the least popular Canon EOS cameras because beginners normally start out with the Rebel 2000 and then graduate to one of the professional Canon SLRs. However, I would like to convince you that you should get an Elan 7E/7 as your first autofocus SLR.

Nice, but did not meet expectations
Anticipating the birth of our second daughter we thought to upgrade our 15-year old fully manual SLR. My wife and I were both yearbook photographers in college, developed our own film, and like to think we are "prosumers". In reality we are probably just heavy consumer users and lack the focus we... Eye Control, what's that?
This camera is Canon's latest generation auto focus, advanced amateur offering. It has been available since late 2000. It sells for around $550, body only, or as a kit with the 28-90mm USM lens, for about $630. I bought mine at a local shop, one that I have dealt with for over 20 years. It is... Read full review »
Good Camera
I bought this camera after en endless quest. I wanted to get a Nikon but the models with equal features were more expensive than Canon ones. Somebody suggested me a Canon. This was my first Canon product. My previous camera was a old Yashica FX-7. So I went for it and do not regret it. I bought... Read full review »
Excellent camera
I bought this camera when I was asked by a friend to act as the official photographer at his wedding. I had a Pentax MZ-10/ZX-10, and the autofocus on that camera was not up to the task (in low light would search around everywhere). In comparison the autofocus on the Elan 7E is absolutely awesome... EXCELLENT!!!
This camera is awesome! This is my first SLR camera ever and I am really enjoying myself. I like this camera because I can grow into it and not worry about replacing it for a long time, if ever. There is enough here to keep me busy. I like that it isn't a simple camera, but it isn't an impossible... Read full review »
