The Bottom Line:
There may be cheaper cameras out there but you often get what you pay for. Chip in and get it for Mom this Christmas. She'll love you for it.
One of the best features of the Canon Power Shot SD880 IS is that this camera takes both stills and movies. It has great picture quality. The last digital camera I had was an HP and I got a lot of blurred pictures. It was very motion sensitive, which is a problem I have not had at all with the Canon.
The movie feature comes in handy rather than having to lug two cameras around and switch between them depending on what kind of pictures you want to take. It's very easy to switch to movie mode.
The USB cable makes it extremely easy to transfer pictures to the computer. The battery lasts a long time and it has a fast battery charger so even if you let it run down you'll be up and running before too long. You could get an extra battery just to be on the safe side but, I have not found that I need one. It definitely beats my old camera which ate batteries like they were on special at the all you can eat buffet, hands down.
This camera is easy to operate out of the box, even if you are technologically challenged or just too lazy to memorize the instruction booklet. It's not much bigger than most cell phones so, you can't beat the portability. The cute styling is nice too.
