The Bottom Line:
Biggest bang for your buck and read the manual.
When I finally decided on the ZR60 I went through two different digital camcorders. First camcorder I tried was the Sharp VL-NZ100U. A good budget beginner camcorder with alot of options, but just didn't like the feel of the camcorder. Next I tried the JVC GR-D31. Its a GR-D30 with a 3 1/2 LCD - must be a special because I bought it at Costco. Now this camcorder cost more then the Sharp but had less options. So I returned it. Finally I walked into my local Future Shop AKA ( Best Buy ) and purchased the ZR60. I took it home and fooled around with. During the day the picture was excellent, but at night under low light conditions picture was grainy. I was tempted to return it and purchase the Optura 10. I waited a day and checked out some different websites on settings or tweaks for the ZR60. Finally I found camcorderinfo.com and found out this website to be very informative, especially about low light settings. Once I tried fooling around with the different settings. The picture was much better in low light. Overall this camera is great for your average Joe. Options such 18x zoom, Analog to digital conversion, fade in fade out effects, remote, the basic feel of the camera in my hand, and ofcourse the picture quality was what made me keep this camera. Sure its not a camera for filming the next Star Wars but hey for the money you can't go wrong. Sure there are better camcorders out their but considering the cost factor you get the ZR60 is the biggest bang for your buck.
