Was Excited when I got it, now just bummed

Pros Excellent Outdoor quality video, image stabalizer, video effects
Cons Humming sound, dismal photo quality, ripped off at Best Buy, night mode
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  Get another one in the ZR series (ZR-65 or the ZR-70).
I bought the Canon ZR-60 at Best Buy two hours before I left for London (I live near Dallas). I bought the camcorder because I wanted to shoot some footage of the London area and my trip. I fiddled around with it on the plane, but I noticed that there was a buzzing sound during playback. While recording, you can hear the sound if you place your ear where the LCD screen is at when it is closed. It sounds like a mosquito with a gruff voice stuck in your camcorder and buzzing around. So, during playback, you will definetly hear it if you are filmed in the country or indoors or a quiet place. Outside, in traffic or at an event, load noises will mask the sound. The indoor quality is a shame. Very grainy. The photo button is not good at all, although it will record audio for six seconds after you push the photo button. Also, the low light mode and night mode are horrible. If you are moving while shooting, there is a horrible blur because the shutter speed is so slow. I was hoping there would be a green tint on the picture so it would be clear, like on TV, but both modes are horrible, and worthless.
The camcorder came with a 1 hour battery pack, a TV connection, a recharger cord, and an instruction book. I decided to buy the accessory kit which comes with a 5 hour battery, a soft carrying case, and 1 60 min. tape. I bought the kit for $120 and felt ripped off when I found out online that for $60 I could have gotten all that, a tripod, more tapes, etc. I felt ripped off at Best Buy. Argh. Anyways, the digital effects are kinda neat. The zoom is powerful. So, if you want all this, buy it, but I would recommend the ZR-65 or ZR-70 if you want better options if you are interested in a Canon product.
