*Sony FDL-PT22*--the solution to boredom!

Pros lightweight, small, functional, well designed, quality, portability
Cons no cable TV obviously, eats AA's pretty fast
Recommended it? Yes
***Sorry, this is a review of the Sony FDL-PT22 Portable TV, but there was no review page for it***

Normally, when you think of a TV, it's your huge, clunky, god-knows-how-many-pounds set
that's sitting in your living room. Well, times have changed, and now we have the darling,
tiny FDL-PT22.

This TV weighs less than half a pound, and is roughly the size of an apple.
The feeling you get when you see it is "Man, this is well designed. How did they do it?"
I'll tell you how they did it. First, there's a small but adequate 2.2" LCD Twisted-Nematic
Screen that boasts over 70k pixels (beat that, Casio), and features relatively sharp color from
a tiny thing.

Controls are logically placed and easy to use, especially with just one hand.
A clicky bar on the side changes station, and a green slider on the underside changes from
off to VHF to UHF. Dials on the right side change volume and contrast, and there is even
a headphone jack (for those days when you can't resist bringing it to study hall).

The bottom line is style, and this thing has a lot of it. The black finish looks great, and there is a
quality feel to it. The extremely well designed "Straptenna* may sound odd, but it's a very smart idea. The silver colored neck strap IS the antenna, pulling in nice reception at almost all times. This is one of the smallest portables out there, and is just about pocket size. The styling is simple, but logical, and the ease of use is phenomenal. Even easier to use than a regular TV.

You can get your local stations
like ABC, NBC, and CBS as well as public broadcasting.
Sure, it's no HBO, but you can catch the Simpsons, news, daytime TV, football games, and you
won't get bored. The sound is a bit tinny from the single speaker at the top of the device,
so headphones are a wise idea. Again, portability--you can't expect Dolby from this sucker,
but it is certainly good enough.

Batteries last about an hour apiece, not too bad, but the AC adapter is wise. For those who must play their Playstation on the road, there's more expensive
models with sharper screens and A/V inputs, but this does the job for most people. The PT22 has plenty to offer, and for a very affordable price--a mere $99.

In conclusion, this portable TV looks great, feels great, and is well made. I recommend
it to anyone who likes to watch TV on the road, or for those with a lot of time on their hands
or are often bored. It works wonders.
