After reviewing the pro's and con's of the multitude of battery operated LCD TV's I ended up purchasing the Casio SY 21B. The first thing that is apparent about this unit is it's robust build quality. The splash proof design gives it a more rugged appearance and feel. Using it for the first time in the basement of our house I didn't expect to receive much if anything. Surprise ! the TV drew in more than I ever expected. I couldn't wait to hook it up to our cable TV system by attaching a antenna matching transformer (Philips Part No. P71005) to a pair of wires with a 3.5mm plug on the end. The 3.5mm plug plugs into the external antenna socket located under the rubber cap located on the top of the unit. After making the connection I turned on the unit and all of our basic cable television channels were available and clear. This external antenna feature is an absolute must to get the most viewing enjoyment out of the unit. The picture quality is superb and the sound is quite acceptable. I am powering the unit using 4 2500mah AA batteries and do not know as yet how much run time they will deliver. In as much as the unit is entertaining it also serves as a serious device for obtaining news during power outages or remote viewing from home. In this regard the unit gives me a the confidence that it can be depended upon to provide optimal service at times when watching news reports is critical to the safety and care of my family and our property.
